Heather Sharp-Spinks

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

Certificed Addiction Counselor

Certified Clinical Supervisor

Hello, and welcome. My name is Heather Sharp-Spinks, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS). I have spent more than 20 years helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges, heal from difficult experiences, and discover their own strengths and resilience.

I understand that reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, and I believe that finding the right therapist is one of the most important parts of the process. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable being yourself and sharing your story at your own pace.

Throughout my career, I have worked with adolescents, adults, and older adults facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, substance use disorders, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional stress. I have extensive experience in outpatient behavioral health, addiction treatment, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), school-based mental health services, and clinical supervision.

I earned my social work education with a focus on serving individuals and communities through evidence-based, compassionate care. In addition to my clinical licensure, I hold certifications in addiction counseling and clinical supervision, allowing me to support both clients and developing professionals within the behavioral health field.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing, even during life's most difficult seasons. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, relapse prevention strategies, and solution-focused interventions. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work alongside each client to develop a treatment plan that reflects their unique goals, values, and experiences.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, exploring the beauty of West Virginia, gardening, reading, and finding opportunities to connect with my community. These experiences help keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance, connection, and self-care.
